Pigmentation of murine cardiac tricuspid valve leaflet is associated with melanocyte concentration, which affects its stiffness. Owing to its biological and viscoelastic nature, estimation of the in situ stiffness measurement becomes a challenging task. Therefore, quasi-static and nanodynamic mechanical analysis of the leaflets of the mouse tricuspid valve is performed in the current work. The mechanical properties along the leaflet vary with the degree of pigmentation. Pigmented regions of the valve leaflet that contain melanocytes displayed higher storage modulus (7–10 GPa) than non-pigmented areas (2.5–4 GPa). These results suggest that the presence of melanocytes affects the viscoelastic properties of the mouse atrioventricular valves and are important for their proper functioning in the organism.  相似文献

The Dufour gland of Nannotrigona testaceicornis is a large, wide, pear-shaped sac. The gland secretion consists chiefly of the diterpene ester all-trans-geranylgeranyl acetate (64% of the total), together with a complex mixture of small amounts of cyclic ketals; mono-, sesqui-, and diterpene compounds; acetates; and other oxygenated compounds. Samples of N. testaceicornis collected at two sites in Brazil and one in México shared the same composition of their glands, suggesting that the species is uniform over this wide geographical area.  相似文献

This paper proposes a tabu search heuristic for the Quay Crane Scheduling Problem (QCSP), the problem of scheduling a fixed number of quay cranes in order to load and unload containers into and from a ship. The optimality criterion considered is the minimum completion time. Precedence and non-simultaneity constraints between tasks are taken into account. The former originate from the different kind of operations that each crane has to perform; the latter are needed in order to avoid interferences between the cranes. The QCSP is decomposed into a routing problem and a scheduling problem. The routing problem is solved by a tabu search heuristic, while a local search technique is used to generate the solution of the scheduling problem. This is done by minimizing the longest path length in a disjunctive graph. The effectiveness of our algorithm is assessed by comparing it to a branch-and-cut algorithm and to a Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP).  相似文献

Software testing is essential to guarantee high quality products. However, it is a very expensive activity, particularly when manually performed. One way to cut down costs is by reducing the input test suites, which are usually large in order to fully satisfy the test goals. Yet, since large test suites usually contain redundancies (i.e., two or more test cases (TC) covering the same requirement/piece of code), it is possible to reduce them in order to respect time/people constraints without severely compromising coverage. In this light, we formulated the TC selection problem as a constrained search based optimization task, using requirements coverage as the fitness function to be maximized (quality of the resultant suite), and the execution effort (time) of the selected TCs as a constraint in the search process. Our work is based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, which is simple and efficient when compared to other widespread search techniques. Despite that, besides our previous works, we did not find any other proposals using PSO for TC selection, neither we found solutions treating this task as a constrained optimization problem. We implemented a Binary Constrained PSO (BCPSO) for functional TC selection, and two hybrid algorithms integrating BCPSO with local search mechanisms, in order to refine the solutions provided by BCPSO. These algorithms were evaluated using two different real-world test suites of functional TCs related to the mobile devices domain. In the performed experiments, the BCPSO obtained promising results for the optimization tasks considered. Also, the hybrid algorithms obtained statistically better results than the individual search techniques.  相似文献

Examined in this study is a potential application of Vernonia galamensis lipase (acetone powder) in enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis of seed oils, most especially of those containing reactive functionalities which are easily affected under drastic hydrolytic and methylating/transesterification conditions during fatty acid analysis. Eight seed oils from V. galamensis, Ximenia kaffra, castor, corn, soyabean, palm kernel, sunflower and olive were hydrolyzed by lipase (acetone powder) followed by methylation using diazomethane in ethyl ether. Results obtained showed that the lipolytic hydrolysis of triglycerides by V. galamensis lipase (acetone powder) was probably nonspecific and did not result in isomerization and as such hydrolyzed the triglycerides of the seed oil in a fashion that the resulting fatty acids were unaltered during hydrolysis. The fatty acids obtained were representative of the parent seed oils. Values reported for the various seed oils were similar to those of previous studies.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The present research analyses the contribution of some lipid antioxidants to the antioxidant activity of lipophilic extracts from basil by an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) study using the stable free radical 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). DPPH assay is considered an easy and accurate method with regard to measuring the antioxidant activity of plant extracts and EPR has already been employed to determine antioxidant activities of lipophilic plant extracts. RESULTS: Lipid extracts were obtained from basil grown hydroponically for 20 or 35 days from sowing and in soil for 35 days from sowing. Fast and slow rate constants were distinguishable in the decay kinetics of DPPH mixture added with lipid extract. Antioxidants with kinetics characterized by a fast decay rate were tocopherols and chlorophylls, whereas those characterized by a slow decay rate were carotenoids, among which were β‐carotene, lutein, β‐apo‐8′‐carotenal and zeaxanthin. The 20‐day hydroponically grown sample, which showed higher contents of tocopherol, chlorophyll and carotenoid molecules, was the sample endowed with the higher content of fast lipophilic antioxidants (FLA) and slow lipophilic antioxidants (SLA). CONCLUSION: The three samples showed different compositions of FLA and SLA, giving rise to different decay kinetics. Despite the differences, in all samples tocopherol contributed about 0.3% to the bulk of FLA, whereas the figure for chlorophyll was about 40%, evidencing the relevant but little‐studied role of chlorophyll as an antioxidant. The concentrations of major and trace elements in Argentinean commercial powdered milk samples were determined with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Also the daily intake (DI) was calculated for adults and infants. The concentrations of B, Mg, Na, K and Ca were significantly higher in skimmed milk. Cu, Mo, Fe, Mn and Zn were significantly higher in infant formula. All the DIs were below the tolerable upper intake levels. The mean As concentration (26.0 ± 8.6 ng/g) in the powdered skimmed milk samples was slightly higher than in the others. Mean Pb concentrations ranged from 4.1 ± 2.1 to 13.5 ± 8.2 ng/g. The highest mean U concentration was 7.8 ± 2.6 ng/g for whole milk. This study contributes to the knowledge of major and trace elements in powdered milk and its contribution to the diet in Argentina.  相似文献
